| Echo and Gaia |
[29 Jul 2008|01:43pm] |
Her name is Gaia.
Echo was a nymph who was a great singer and dancer and scorned the love of any man. This angered Pan, a lecherous god, and he instructed his followers to kill her. Echo was torn to pieces and spread all over the Earth. The Titan goddess of the earth, Gaia, received the pieces of Echo, whose voice remains repeating the last words of others.

"New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" - LCD Soundsystem |

I'm officially a real-life member of an IT staff! *dances* And I got a raise! And I'm a lion! *rawr*
My new office is a room with no windows, the one bathroom I use has a urinal (which is kinda neat, I think; maybe I'll learn how to use it.) I'm the only female in the building. It's super-quiet, and the walls are bare. I have to walk half-a-mile across a warehouse of televisions and computers to get to the fridge or the bathroom. It's all so exciting!

"Last Songs" - Dntel |

I've been feeling a little different lately. Not sure what it is that feels different. It's nice, though. Living the grown-up life gets pretty mundane and makes me a dull girl. I've been training my replacement for two weeks, and he's coming along nicely. I really don't know what awaits me in that other building. Maybe I'll just ask.
- Elationisfacile can pollinate up to six times more efficiently than the honeybee.

If you haven't done so, go see The Signal now.
So I've been "trying to quit smoking" now for many months; since John quit in November, practically every pack of cigarettes I've been buying was the "last pack." So last Wednesday was a normal day, and my "last pack" had two cigarettes left. I couldn't find this pack as I left work, so I nonchalantly said "Screw it," and didn't get another "last pack." The next morning, I found the pack of two ciggies under my desk at work, but I didn't smoke them. At first it was kind of like, "How far can you go until you pussy out, Carling?"
I'm still not saying I've successfully quit yet, but I'm afraid to smoke for fear of being violently ill. I've gone 151 hours since the last one. I've have never been longer than 2 days without a cigarette since I started 10 years ago, until now. I've been a little more irritable than usual, but it's passing. Fun times!
Regina Spektor was a great show, but the intimate setting 2 years ago at Park Tavern was far more memorable.

"Bangers N' Mash" - Radiohead |
] |

You are The Wheel of Fortune
Good fortune and happiness but sometimes a species of intoxication with success
The Wheel of Fortune is all about big things, luck, change, fortune. Almost always good fortune. You are lucky in all things that you do and happy with the things that come to you. Be careful that success does not go to your head however. Sometimes luck can change.
What Tarot Card are You? Take the Test to Find Out.
I've got my one pre-sale ticket for Radiohead. Go me. I can't believe the entire Lakewood amphitheater is sold out. Insanity. I can't wait to find out what my seat is. *crosses fingers for second row*
I'm finding that the In Rainbows Bonus CD is much better than In Rainbows itself. I'm head over heels with the track Bangers N' Mash.

Tonight, we've enlightened many about the horrors of Sun Chips. We also helped strive for peace in the middle east. I found that I knew someone who was born on the exact same day that I was, thought not legally. And mushrooms are awesome.
